Following the amicable split with their previous drummer, alt-rockers Lost Without Cause took a break to recharge and look for a new drummer. One year away from the live circuit later, LWC are now back, armed with both a new drummer and material, the first product of which is the new CD ‘Take Back Everything’. This CD represents that transition period, as it not only features the last batch of tracks they wrote with previous drummer Rosetta Holmes, but also features the first crop of recordings with new drummer, James Jaggers. Kicking off with the Placebo-esque lead track ‘Trigger’ (for which they’ve recorded a video), LWC proceed to pick up right where they left off with ‘Lost My Mind’, and standout track ‘Loser’- one which could rival any songs from the current wave of US alt-rock/college rock bands – Bowling For Soup fans take note; you may have just found your new favourite band. ‘You Won’t know’ is a fine example of how much the band’s sound has grown and matured over the last couple of years, and thoughtful acoustic track ‘Sense’ closes the batch of new recordings. As a bonus, LWC have also included the tracks ‘Come On’ and ‘Situation’ from their chart-breaking previous single, for those who missed them first time round – two tracks which, in my opinion, should have made them huge.
A fine return then for the Herts-based trio. Well written and produced, ‘Take Back Everything’ should not only see the band taking back all they’ve lost over the past year, but also gaining much more ground.
