Free Musikal Sin mixtapes online
Free downloadable compilations, ideal for any tastes.
I’ve recently put together two contrasting online mixtapes, both of which are free to download from Bandcamp, not only showing the different sides of my musical tastes, but also promoting the local and underground music scene. Titled as ‘Saints’ and ‘Sinners’ respectively, the former is a melodic, more chilled-out mix, whilst the latter is the exact opposite – a heavier, rockier mix of tracks.
Side A: Saints
1. Stuart O’Connor – Cage Is Rattling
2. Holly Knowles – Blue Heart
3. Lost Without Cause – Right Angle
4. Owen Stephen – Place Called Love
5. Professor Elemental – Pay Me A Visit (Ajuda remix feat. Count Bass D)
6. Fallow Fields – This Feels Like Home
7. Craig Harris – Sometimes I Forget
8. Disco Zhivago – Pistols In The Sun
9. AlicebanD – Catharsis
10.Indi And The Vegas – Pheromones
11.Asya Fairchild – Another Night
12.Hello Lazarus – I Am No Explorer
13.Sons Of Guns – I Am The Refugee
14.My Pet Junkie – Away
15.Trial By Fire – Demons At Your Door
16.Black Noise – I Turned my Heart into a Monster (demo)
‘Saints’ features artists mostly (with about four exceptions) from/based around the Herts area, from genres such as folk, electronica, pop-punk, funk-rock and more.
Side B: Sinners
1. Billy Skins 5th – The Incorruptibles
2. Rising Tide – Like A Shadow Of A Shadow
3. Speedshot – Too Far Gone
4. The Projectionist – Hide From The Facts
5. Daken – Weapons
6. Aghast – We Fear Silence (Megaton remix)
7. Hey You Guys – Record Deal
8. Cantarella – Beauty And The Beast
9. Distance To Fall – Hero
10.Castrovalva – Dining With The Pope
11.Ilenkus – Ram
12.Derange – Ego
13.Scar City – City Lights
14.Let’s Talk Daggers – #1 Spicy Bugger
15.Black Polaris – Lost Souls
16.Faces Of Eve – Dwellers
‘Sinners’ features artists from across the UK, and is ideal for anyone who likes the heavier veins of music, whether it be the various sub-genres of metal, alt-rock, punk or hardcore, etc.
I started making my own mixtapes when I was a child – I think seven-year-old-me would be quite pleased with what I’ve put together here. The main difference is that these weren’t recorded from records on an old turntable onto a separate Fisher Price cassette player, nor feature any young Cockney-tinged voices in the background. Seriously though, it was fun putting them together, and judging by the reception they’ve had recently, the hard work that went into them has been worth it. My gratitude goes out to all artists featured, for wanting to get involved.
Enjoy!

The Projectionist – ‘Now It’s Time To Carve The Pigs’ EP review
Vicious metal from Cambridgeshire
Tracklisting:
1. Kreed Kafer
2. Hide From The Facts
3. Carve The Pigs
4. Now You Have Lost Them All
Line-up:
Leigh Gray – vocals
Chris Revitt – guitar
Adam Cooke – bass
Robert Miller – drums
Coming up from Cambridgeshire, intense quartet The Projectionist are preparing to release their second EP ‘Now It’s Time To Carve The Pigs’ and as the cover suggests, it’s a snarling beast of a CD. Sounding like a band who’ve mixed discordant punk, hardcore, grind and metal in a cement mixer and spat out the results in all directions, this is hyper, angry music, the sound of a band jumping on your desk, grabbing you by the throat and demanding your attention.
Right from the opener ‘Kreed Kafer’, The Projectionist immediately hit with relentless riffs and intense drumming, and do not let up for a second. There are no melodic passages or pseudo-surprise ‘clean’ choruses; this is a tight, finely-tuned attack from four competent musicians who seemly aren’t interested in bandwagons or conforming to a trend. Occasionally sounding like a heavier Refused meets Cancer Bats, this is ideal for fans of heavy, high-energy, uncompromising music, regardless of your favourite subgenre.
This is not casual background music. This is violence in aural form, and it comes highly recommended.
You can check out the track ‘Carve The Pigs’ ahead of the release on Soundcloud or Bandcamp:
The ‘Now It’s Time To Carve The Pigs’ EP will be released digitally and on CD via High On Pritstick Records, on 14th October, available from http://www.theprojectionist.bandcamp.com/. Their debut EP ‘Meat Parade’ can also be downloaded for free.

Herts metal act raises money for Alzheimer’s charity
Rising Tide and friends make noise for a good cause
North Herts-based metal band Rising Tide have recently released their debut album, and have decided to donate all the money from sales of this to charity. A friend of the band, Tom Manchester, will be participating in a charity bike ride later this year to raise funds for an Alzheimer’s Disease charity, to which Rising Tide will be donating funds. The album was released at their recent gig at Club 85, Hitchin, where each physical CD featured a unique doodle design by Wicked Sushi. Melding hardcore and tech-metal influences, RT are a high-energy live act, and they’ve successfully managed to capture that feel in their recordings.
Line-up:
Mikael Hunter: Vocals
Josh Elgood: Guitar/Bass (vocals on track 3)
Will Horsman: Guitar/Vocals
Woody Woodgate: Bass
Billy Howard: Drums
The album can be purchased at live shows, or downloaded from their Bandcamp profile at http://risingtide1.bandcamp.com/, where the band are allowing fans to choose their own price to pay for it. The album features twelve tracks, two of which feature guest appearances from ex-My Passion frontman Laurence René, Aggi Friðbertsson from Sign and ‘Ham’ Rodda.
